BP Piastów Jakuszyce - jeden z najbardziej znanych Biegów Górskich w Polsce...

Walter Judka - our legend!

During the 47th Bieg Piastów, he will turn 80! He was the only one to participate in all editions of Bieg Piastów since 1976. Walter Judka!

The inhabitant of Jelenia Góra prepares to take part in daily marches from the Zabobrze estate, where he lives, to Góra Szybowcowa and to Jeżów Sudecki. At home, he practices on a ski simulator. He plans to start in KGHM Rodzinna 12 and in the 6 km. He will be accompanied by his family (all cross-country skiing), and he will certainly ski part of the distance in the company of his own granddaughters: 12-year Ola and 6-year Iga.

Below is our article about Walter, written before the 45-th Bieg Piastów:

The only participant in all editions of Bieg Piastów. In Jakuszyce, he was already ski sixty years ago, when no one else dreamed of the Piasts. In recent years, he has been competing at 3 distances, but in which granddaughters. He got her into skiing for good. As sons, raised on skis almost from the cradle.
He belongs to the great team of the legendary Happy Bus, which has been transporting skiers from Jelenia Góra to Jakuszyce every weekend since the mid-1970s. He taught how to ski and fell in love with it them, hundreds of people. Sensational, in a simple way, teaches the technique of cross-country skiing, lubricates them phenomenally, tells great stories. For example, about how the military guarded the skiers:  - In 1961 I went to a sports camp in Jakuszyce. We lived in Bombaj (restaurant with rooms in Jakuszyce). We, the skiers, called it that. The restaurant in this building is still called that today. We ski next to her - in Polana Maliszewski. It was not allowed to go further. So we made a circle in this clearing and ski around it. Where the gas station is today, a soldier with binoculars stood counting us all the time. At that time, it was believed that Poles were fleeing through the Czech Republic to Austria...
